Seiko Hatano Profile
Born and raised in Shibuya, Seiko Hatano is a Japanese coloratura soprano living in New York. Since 1996, she has been a frequent soloist of the New York City Symphony, and performed in Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden and UN Headquarters. Her concert tours have taken her to twenty-seven countries and has sung in thirty different languages. She continues to perform internationally with her motto, “Building Bridges through Song.”
Her angelic voice has the power to heal and encourage audiences. Her Pink Ribbon and healing concerts around the world has been picked up by the Japan News, Sankei Shimbun and she was chosen for Kyodo New’s “Person of Time.”
In 2015, she sang the finale of the United Nations’ 70th anniversary event and met then UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon.
Hatano began piano at age 4 and singing at age 5. From age 7, she became a member of the NHK Tokyo Children Chorus and has appeared in TV and radio programs. She also performed all over the country and the world, singing in front of distinguished guests of various countries, such as His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Graduated as a Soprano Major from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts. She has studied with Charles Kellis, voice professor of The Juilliard School, Lydia Vierlinger, the professor of University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and Hiroko Takagi, the professor of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts.
2006 Records Peace Cantata “Halelu” with the renowned,
Israeli vocalist David D’Or. With D’Or, she performed in the world premier performance of
peace cantata "Halelu” in Belgrade, Serbia with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra,
organized by the Israeli Embassy. Concert televised to six other Eastern European countries
2007 Sings in the “Three Sopranos” concert in Paraguay
2008 Performs at Nepal Academy Hall and Nepal Japanese Embassy
2009 Appears at NY Central Park Peace concert. Performs at Brazil Parliament
Recital at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan
2011 Recordings of the Japanese tsunami relief efforts concerts in Columbus
and Los Angeles have been broadcasted on NBC, CBS and UTB
Hollywood. Holds a concert at New York Nigeria Consulate
2012 Recital at Ginza Yamaha Hall.
Holds a school concert at Japanese International School in Dusseldorf
Holds a concert in the Czech Museum of Music
2013 In New York and Syrian Orthodox Church (Vienna),
holds a Syrian refugee aid concert. Performs in Vienna UN
2014 Invited as a Soprano soloist in Mozart's ”Coronation Mass” in Austria
Performs at Salzburg International Ballet Academy Gala concert
2015 Performs at the Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall
for the International Yoga Day event and sang for the United
Nations’ 70th anniversary event at the General Assembly as
the featured soloist
2016 Sings at Santo Domingo International Simposium
2017 Performs at a memorial charity in Germany for the
500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s reformation
2018 Performs at the largest gospel event in the nation,
“McDonald’s Gospelfest” as a guest singer
2019 Holds a concert for supporting Fukushima Kids in Kona, Hawaii
2020 Joint concert with world renown tenor singer, Paul Potts in Tokyo
2025 In October at Ginza Oji Hall and in December at Nara Akishino Ongakudo,
held the new album My Tribute release recital.
